Dr Aneesa Iqbal is a fully qualified GP initially trained and worked in the UK. She qualified as a GP in early 2003. She has now been working as a GP for 15 years. Dr Aneesa Iqbal moved to Australia in 2010 and has continued her journey in general practice. She enjoys the continuity and the variability that it offers.
Her areas of special interest are female and sexual health, having qualified with the Diploma of sexual and reproductive health in 2003, and then the LOC IUD. She offers all forms of contraception including Implanon and the Intrauterine devices.
Dr Iqbal’s other interests are paediatrics and mental health. Most recently she has attended a course in mental health training which will enable her to offer further structured psychological strategies, to people suffering from a wide range of mental health illnesses.
Since 2012 she has been directly involved in supervising medical students from the University of Melbourne. She loves this aspect of my job, high fulfilling and stimulating.
She speaks Urdu and Punjabi in addition to English. She is married to her husband Giuseppe with a young daughter Amna. Her husband has supported her in every way along my journey. She also have her most adorable parents and brother, without them all she would not be where she is.
She enjoys cooking and reading. According to Dr Aneesa, “unfortunately quite opposite to the regular Australian I do not have any sporting abilities.”
She is highly regarded and loved by her patients and we are very fortunate to have her on our team. She is here at Aspire Medical on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
